About Me

Why UX Research?

I’ve always been fascinated by how people think and why they make the decisions they do. That curiosity led me to earn a degree in psychology, and for a long time, I assumed I would spend my career working in the mental health field. But plans change!

For several years, I worked for a behavioral health insurance carrier, helping people navigate complex healthcare systems during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. What many people don’t realize is that when someone is experiencing severe depression or anxiety, even simple tasks, like completing multi-factor authentication or entering insurance information online can become overwhelming barriers to getting help.

There were times when I wanted to shout, “Who is designing these things?!” Eventually, that frustration led me to discover the field of UX design and research. Once I realized there was a career path focused on understanding users directly and advocating for their needs during decision-making, I knew I had found the right fit.

What About Outside of Work?

When I’m not conducting UX research, I’m usually hunting for vintage clothes or crafting while watching movies. I can spend hours digging through thrift store racks searching for hidden treasures. Regular shopping just doesn’t have the same thrill of the hunt!

Counted cross stitch and movies go hand in hand for me. My last project took hundreds of hours to complete, which means I binged more movies than I can count. Ask me how to get started with cross stitching, it’s easy to pick up and hard to put down!
